I don’t fucking care what people call themselves. I think there’s two sexes, male and female. As for genders—there’s masculine, feminine, androgyne. And truth is most people are a combination leaning more towards one than the other. Maybe there’s neutral too if a person’s mannerisms are more like a xerox machine. I’ve met a few. The rest of it somebody just made it up. If it’s important to them whatever but it’s not important to me. I consider gendering largely a lingual phenomenon. Most romantic languages have genderings. It’s built into the structure of the languages. It’s not really feasible to divorce it.
Some people get mad when they’re mistaken for another sex. I’ve probably offended a few bearded ladies in my day. I was just being respectful but whatever. So, it happens…bearded ladies sometimes get called sir while squeaky voices sometimes get called mam. Don’t take it personally. Of course, technically those aren’t pronouns. Pronouns are words that a person uses to either refer to themselves in a sentence with an I, me, or we—or words that a person uses in a sentence to refer to somebody else while talking to a person other than that person. I have never called a person He or She as their first name or as a word to get their attention. So…I don’t really understand the emotional outrage.
Decades ago people didn’t often use the word sex on a questionaire asking for their biological sex because secretaries were mostly females and assumed too delicate to read about sex. Thus, the word gender was introduced as a synonym. So, what I’m saying is…when I hear people arguing about the gender debate, I think both positions need nuance.
Another thing, acronyms aren’t very useful if they’re difficult to remember. Also, people have their own communities and identities so I don’t think it’s sincere or very useful to lump everyone together under acronyms. The news and advertising media do this frequently. It comes across as disingenuous. Well, I don’t like commercials and I’m personally not a fan of the drag queen shows on Fox news…so I don’t watch them, and if you don’t like them either I suggest changing the channel. I respect people’s rights but that’s pretty much what Fox news is about…drag shows. If aliens were to observe Earth I’m not sure they could reasonably make any other conclusion about Fox News’ genreing. I would not be surprised if Americans have spent more hours watching drag shows on Fox News than Americans have spent watching actual drag shows.
People should not be offended if drag queens give people the heebyjeebies whatever those are. There’s plenty of gay men that agree. I don’t think it’s inherently homophobic to be creeped out by drag shows. I’d be creeped out if an actual woman acted that way. I’m not an expert but from what I understand, drag is based on toxic femininity displayed with the masculine uncouth of a virgian slim smoking hag lip syncing to cheesy pop music. I don’t have a problem with it, I just don’t like it. If it were an audition for Ursula for The Little Mermaid or something like that sure I suppose there’s a grotesque artistic nature that fits it. Blah blah blah. End of rant.
Oh but another thing…I’m more offended by AI. I don’t like them. They’re creepy. They’re hostile. Leave me alone.
